Intriguing Points From Windows Server 2022 Book (Early Release!!!) Part14.

IPAM… Certificates…

The IP Address Management (IPAM) feature built into Windows Server 2022 is a technology that allows centralized monitoring and management of DHCP and DNS in your environment. IPAM is useful for gathering up all of those differing namespaces and scopes and providing access to them from one interface.

NOTE
It is not recommended to install IPAM onto a domain controller or onto a DHCP server as that will hinder its ability to acquire information from these systems.

Group Policy
It’s easy to understand the general use of the word “policy”, meaning some kind of ruleset, structure or standard to which you need something to adhere.
In a nutshell, Group Policy is a centralized way to issue policies to groups of computers inside your domain network.

“Ugh, we need to use certificates to make this work.”
Real-life quote from any admin after discovering their latest software purchase requires the use of certificates.

The broad term for a certificate environment is public key infrastructure (PKI). The severs that you determine to be your certificate servers are known as certification authority (CA) servers.

Common certificate types
1. User certificates
2. Computer certificates
3. SSL certificates
4. Single-name certificates
5. Multi-domain or subject alternative name certificates
6. Wildcard certificates
