Jordan Krause is Microsoft’s MVP currently working at Worksighted.
I read his “Mastering Windows Server 2019” book which proved awesome, therefore, allowing me to share few points here:
- Windows client machine is a requester, consumer and contributor of data.
- Windows server, house, protect and serve up the data to be consumed by clients.
- Each service inside Windows Server is provided as or as part of, a role.
- A cloud fabric is one that revolves around virtual resources – virtual machines, virtual disks and even virtual networks.
- The major driving factor of cloud in business today is the ability to increase or decrease the number of servers as needed.
- The largest benefits that Server Core (version of Windows Server) brings to the table, other than performance, is security.
- Nano Server (version of Windows Server) is pretty well married to the use of containers.
- Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) is a culmination of number of different technologies that can work together for the purpose of creating the mentality of a Software-Defined Datacenter (SDDC).
- Another component of SDDC is Software Defined Networking (SDN).
- Windows Admin Center (WAC) is a free tool to centrally managing your server infrastructure.
