The is a series of valuable points picked up from “Windows Server 2022” book.
- Three different variants of Windows Servers: Desktop Experience (most common, point and click interface)
- Server Core (faster and more efficient, CLI with security)
- Nano Server (not available in 2022 version, it can be downloaded as a container base OS image)
- New and updated features:
- Hardware security – improvements to TPM interoperability, UEFI secure boot and virtualization-based security.
- Network security – updates and upgrades to multiple network protocols to help propel the protection.
- Protocol updates – TCP and UDP packets are the core entity of network traffic. Security enhancements to both TCP and UDP.
- TLS 1.3 enabled by default.
- DNS-over-HTTPS – also called secure DNS, Server 2022 enable DNS lookups to be encrypted using HTTPS.
- Azure Integrations – Windows Server 2022 helps interact with and migrate to the Azure platform.
