Continuation of updates and features in Server 2022:
- The Windows 10 experience continued: the code platform for Server 2022 is closer to Windows 10.
- Hyper-converged infrastructure: HCI is a culmination of number of different technologies that can work together and be managed together, all for the purpose of creating a mentality of a Software-Defined Datacenter (SDDC).
- Microsoft Edge: the default browser for Server 2022.
- Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP): Windows Server 2022 does come out of the box with built-in antivirus, the ATP service and Windows Defender. It is a cloud-based service, Azure handling all of the backend processing.
- Integration with Linux: ability to now run Linux VMs within Microsoft Hyper-V and to even interface with them properly.
- System Insights: a predictive analytics engine that runs locally on our servers, capturing information about the server itself and keeping historical data which can be translated and manipulated to find patterns and trends.
- Features deprecated in Server 2022
- Semi-Annual Channel (SAC) releases
- Windows Internet Name Service (WINS)
- Internet Storage Name Service (iSNS) server
